The road from Adis Ababa to Awasa was full of sights and sounds. We shared the road with livestock, scooters, taxis, vans and trucks. School children in their brightly colored uniforms were dismissed from class for their lunch breaks in droves. It was good to see so many young people attending school in the small towns that we passed. It seemed to be the youngest of the children who would take time to look at us and wave their hands with their sweet smiling faces. It made me long even more to meet my sponsored child, Endalech. The sounds we heard were mostly the honking of car horns to indicate that our vehicle had the right of way at all times.
I was amazed at the civilization up and down the road. We passed many Orthodox churches as well as mosques. The produce stands indicated that they grow a lot of red onions, potatoes, tomatoes and bananas in the region.

So great to hear of the progress...progress of your trip and progress of education. I see those crazy unique birds in the picture with the water. You must have arrived at Hawassa!
